A pure pearl is a smooth, glowing round stone, found inside the shell of an oyster, a species of bivalve mollusk. The rare pearls are greatly valued as precious jewels. Pearls may be white, black, red, blue, brown, yellowish, or pink in colour. They are created, when a foreign body enters the mollusks (shellfish) between the mantel and the shell. This makes the mollusk feel an irritation, which it cures by coating it with a substance called nacre, layer by layer, which keeps growing till it becomes a full-fledged pearl.
